夏尔巴人与安第斯山脉原住民的高海拔适应

对80多名低地居民、适应了高海拔的低地居民、来自尼泊尔的夏尔巴高地原住民以及来自秘鲁的安第斯山脉Quechua原住民的血红蛋白质量、浓度以及血浆容量的比较,揭示出了夏尔巴人的相对低的血液血红蛋白浓度这个特征与生殖成功以及运动能力有联系是相对高的血浆容量的结果,而非此前认为的受限的血红蛋白制造的结果;这些结果提示,夏尔巴人在高海拔增加了他们的携氧能力,但是通过增加血浆容量保持了血液低粘度,而这种安第斯人缺乏的特征可能构成了夏尔巴人对高海拔适应的基础。
