Milestone Take off: First NASA Wallops-Controlled Global Hawk Flight

image: NASA's Global Hawk 872 known as GH872 departed from NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, Va., at 8:41 a.m. on Aug. 20, 2013. This was the first take off controlled by the Global Hawk Operations Center-2 (GHOC-2), located at Wallops. GHOC-1 is located at NASA Dryden, Calif. The GH872 departure marks the HS3 mission's first science flight. GH 872 It is scheduled to return on Aug. 21.
