一项研究发现，一些商品除草剂可以遏制诸如白假丝酵母菌（Candida albicans）和新型隐球菌（Cryptococcus neoformans ）等人类真菌病原体的生长，这些除草剂可以与抗真菌药物伊曲康唑产生协同增效作用从而增强活性；在感染了白假丝酵母菌的小鼠身上试验了一种商品除草剂氯嘧磺隆，结果表明氯嘧磺隆减少了肺、肝和脾的真菌载量，这提示这类化合物可能代表了可能的抗真菌药物候选。
