Professors Greenberg, Zhang & Moon Receive Funding for Project GO At MASON
George Mason University and the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, in coordination with the Global Exchange Office, will host up to 40 ROTC students over the summer of 2022 for a full-immersion program in Chinese and Korean language and culture. Nathaniel Greenberg, Associate Professor of Arabic in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages, is the lead PI on the grant. He is joined by Co-PIs Associate Professor of Chinese, Karl Zhang, and Term Assistant Professor of Korean, Jihye Moon. The subaward grant, worth $398,227, is funded by the Defense Language and National Security Education Office and administered by the Institute of International Education. The objective of the program is to help future global officers from around the country gain fluency in a critical language while learning the vital tools of intercultural communication and understanding. This funding began in September 2021 and will end in late August 2022.
