Goetsch receives funding to reengineer Teacher Writing Institute for offering in Write Now Teacher Studio

Grant and Award Announcement

George Mason University

Leslie Goetsch, Director, Northern Virginia Writing Project, English, received $5,000 from National Writing Project on a subaward from the U.S. Department of Education.

With this funding, the Northern Virginia Writing Project will build upon its piloted online learning opportunity, Teacher Writing Institute, to reengineer it for offering in Write Now Teacher Studio.

"The project involves NVWP Teacher Leaders taking a 'deeper dive' into a professional development lesson focusing on a particular element of writing instruction. The Teacher Leaders will use researched theory and practice experience to design and develop the lesson into an immediately useable form for other teachers. They will then upload the lesson to the resources section (Deeper Dive) of the National Writing Project's new social platform, Write Now Teacher Studio, and thus make NVWP expertise available to teachers everywhere," Goetsch said.

Funding for this award began in September 2021 and will end in September 2022.
