SAN FRANCISCO—Colabra, maker of collaborative R&D software for scientific teams, announced that it has successfully completed the Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 certification for its LIMS and ELN.
Additionally, Colabra complies with GPDR, the EU-US Privacy Shield framework and the Swiss-US Privacy Shield framework, each of which requires Colabra to maintain safeguards for personal data transferred to the United States.
Developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the SOC 2 certification requires companies to establish and follow strict information access policies and procedures. It is widely recognized as the gold standard for data security.
To achieve SOC 2 Type 2 certification, an independent third party has validated the design of Colabra’s controls relevant to security, availability, and confidentiality. The certification demonstrates Colabra’s commitment to data security through practices and procedures for preventing unauthorized access, maintaining the availability of its service, and protecting the confidential information of its customers.
GDPR, EU-US Privacy Shield, and Swiss-US Privacy Shield frameworks
Colabra has also remained focused on the security and compliance requirements in the European Union, and beyond. Colabra has a comprehensive and ongoing privacy program and remains committed to complying with its obligations under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as well as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Colabra also complies with and certifies under both the EU-US Privacy Shield Framework and the Swiss-US Privacy Shield Frameworks, which provide legal mechanisms for the transfer of data from the EU to other countries that do not have a similar data protection framework.
For Enterprise customers, Colabra now also offers regional Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) deployments in Germany, Switzerland, Canada, or any other location customers may require for security and legal compliance.
