Preparing today's health leaders for the crises of tomorrow

SDMPH collaboration will present a 3-part program

Society for Disaster Medicine and Public Health, Inc.

With over 4 million Ukrainian refugees to date, and growing, we are faced with a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented magnitude and a global humanitarian obligation to not only respond, but to do so in such a way as to minimize the physical and psycho-social trauma inflicted on this displaced diaspora. This in-turn requires an all of society response at the global level and an inter-grated trans-national effort on the part of all our health disciplines.

To better prepare health care professionals to respond to this and future catastrophic events, the SDMPH is privileged to be a part of the following program 3-part program scheduled for 8:30 AM EDT on April the 14th:

a) Keynote presentation by Prof. Kobi Peleg, Head of the Emergency and Crisis Management Program at Ramat Gan Academic College, who led the WHO-EMT's coordination cell in the Ukraine conflict. Professor Peleg will address the challenges and uniqueness of the EMT coordination system in the Ukraine crisis. 

 b) The presentation of the first ever Fellowship Certificates of Completion to 14 graduating international fellows of the EDGHS program from Department Emergency and Trauma Department, Subspecialty in Disaster Management, Hospital Selayang, Selangor, Malaysia  overseen by  Datuk Dr Mohamed Alwi bin Abdul Rahman , in collaboration with the  Indian Institute of Emergency Medical Services (IIEMS), Division of Emergency Disaster Global Health, Univ. of Texas Southwestern, Dallas, Texas, and Institute of Disaster Management, Univ. of Georgia, Athens, Georgia. The Emergency Disaster Global Health Sciences (EDGHS) Certificate and affiliated Fellowship programs provides graduate and post-doctorate education and training to healthcare and related professionals preparing for expert-level leadership in academics, administrative, public service, and operational roles to meet the unscheduled health and medical needs of people locally and globally  

c) A multi-disciplinary interactive panel of leading health experts in preparedness and response will meet to discuss evolving and adapting the EDGHS Fellowship Program core curriculum, competencies   concepts and milestones to assist any interested professional schools enhance in providing expert-level education and training with a common base facilitating an integrated system among our disciplines, countries, and regions globally.
