About the Editor:

Bharathi Gourkanti, MD Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Division Director of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Cooper Medical School at Rowan University was born and raised in India.  She attended and received her medical degree at Kakatiya Medical College in India. She completed her Anesthesiology Residency in New York at Coney Island Hospital and Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.  Dr. Gourkanti began her academic career as assistant professor of anesthesiology at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, New Jersey.  She is currently an associate professor at Cooper Medical School Rowan University.  Furthermore, Dr. Gourkanti is the division head of Pediatric Anesthesiology at Cooper University Health Care and has served in this position for twenty years.  She also active serves on several committees including the Pediatric Code Committee, Clinical Competency Committee, and Pediatric Pharmacy Committee.  She has been a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology and New Jersey State Society of Anesthesiology, and is an active member of Society of Pediatric Anesthesiology.   Dr. Gourkanti was recognized in South Jersey Magazine Top Docs in 2012 and 2014.  She is actively involved in International Healthcare Volunteer and Operation Smile.  Her academic activities include authorship of many book chapters in anesthesia textbooks for Springer as well as peer reviewed articles.
