Functional Composite Materials: Manufacturing Technology and Experimental Application highlights the advancements in the functional composites, metal matrix composites, polymer matrix composites, machinability studies of metals and composites using CNC turning process, electrical discharge machining, end milling, abrasive jet machining, electro chemical machining, additive manufacturing of products, joining of metals using resistance spot welding and carbon aerogels doped with resorcinol formaldehyde. We anticipate that this book will be of significant interest to the industrialists working on the basic issues surrounding the functional composites and manufacturing technology, as well as those who work in the industry in applied problems such as processing and applications. Because of multidisciplinary nature of the research, this book will attract a broad audience, including materials scientists, chemists, physicists, manufacturing and chemical engineers and processing specialists who are involved and interested in the future frontiers of blends.

The main attentions in this collection of scientific book chapters is focused on recent theoretical and practical advancements in functional composite materials related to mechanical and wear properties, microstructural characterization, and advanced manufacturing techniques used in aerospace, automobile, marine and defense industries.

The book is of significant interest to industrialists working on the basic and experimental parameters for fabricating functional composites and manufacturing technology. About the editors:

Dr.C.Samson Jerold Samuel is currently working as an associate professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, India. He has completed his bachelors of engineering in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai in the year 2008. He obtained his master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the Anna University of Technology, Coimbatore in 2010. He has completed his Ph.D in the area of metal matrix composites from Anna University, Chennai, in 2018. He has published many technical papers in SCI and Scopus indexed journals. He has authored and edited books published by reputed publishers. He has received the best faculty, best research grants and best research paper awards for his outstanding contribution to teaching and research. Furthermore, he has presented many technical seminars, keynote lectures to the faculty members and researchers of engineering institutions. Currently, 7 scholars are pursuing part time Ph.D at Anna University, Chennai, under his guidance. He is presently an editor in many SCI and Scopus indexed journals

 

Dr. M.Suresh, is an associate professor at the Department of Robotics and Automation Engineering, PSG College of Technology, India. His Ph.D. research focused on theoretical and experimental investigations of orientations of brake pads in vibratory part feeders. His current research focuses on advanced manufacturing technology, process automation, and industrial robotics. He has published around seventy-three technical papers in refereed and impact-factored international journals. He has authored three books in the field of industrial automation and assembly automation. He received the outstanding faculty award and best faculty of the year from SKCET and PSG Institute of Advanced Studies for his academic and research works in 2013 and 2018, respectively.

 

Dr. S. Gnanasekaran is an assistant professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sri Sakthi Institute of Engineering and Technology, Tamil Nadu, India. He obtained a Ph.D. in Welding and Surface Engineering. His research work was funded by the University Grants Commission – Department of Atomic Energy (UGC-DAE). He has published many research articles in SCI- and Scopus-indexed journals and published five patents. He has also published five book chapters. Dr. Gnanasekaran received several awards from international conferences for his technical work. He also received the best faculty award for his immeasurable contribution to students’ welfare. He has been an editorial board member, advisory board member, and reviewer for several journals.
