SAN DIEGO, CA – July 6, 2022 – West Health President Timothy A. Lash issued the following statement on news that Senate Democrats have reportedly agreed to advance prescription drug pricing reform and that legislative text has been submitted to the Senate parliamentarian.

“West Health applauds Senate Democrats for advancing prescription drug pricing reform through a reconciliation package that includes empowering Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices, capping out-of-pocket prescription drug costs and limiting price increases to the rate of inflation.

This is a big step in the right direction and is overwhelmingly popular with the American public. Beneficiaries and their families, and really no person, should have to struggle just to afford their prescription medications. These drug pricing provisions will save lives and taxpayer dollars, and are long overdue. West Health looks forward to its speedy passage and continuing the work to make healthcare more affordable in America.”
