Mechanics of Materials: A Friendly Approach provides a fresh look on the basic foundation for mechanical, civil, aerospace, chemical and ceramic engineering. This comprehensive book presents material with a three-dimensional approach rather than two-dimensional analysis adopted by the existing books. The basic elements, stress tensor and strain tensors are developed gradually in three-dimensions, and they are expressed with 3x3 matrices. The book is also a good reference for field designers in industries and researchers working in laboratories as it will help them in using computer aided engineering softwares.

The book provides a clear and in-depth understanding of concepts involved. It explains the fundamentals with many illustrations and gradually increasing difficulty levels. The language is simple and appropriate for self-study. Many anecdotes and solved examples facilitate the grasping of the concepts. Special care has been taken to carry out the algebra and derivations in small digestive steps.

Mechanics of Materials: A Friendly Approach retails for US$138 / £120 (hardcover) and is also available in electronic formats. To order or know more about the book, visit http://www.worldscientific.com/worldscibooks/10.1142/12590.
