Book Announcement

Bentham Science Publishers

Evidence has been collected to show the massive therapeutic potential of medicinal plants used in various traditional systems against many pathological complications. Researchers have focused on the therapeutic potential of natural products used for treatment and counteracting various disorders along with their complications having negligible adverse effects. Natural Products for the Management of Arthritic Disorders compiles current knowledge about the bioactive compounds and herbal formulations useful in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. 11 chapters explain the role of natural products in the management of rheumatoid arthritis. Topics have been contributed by experts in medicinal chemistry and rheumatology. The book “Natural Products for the Management of Arthritic Disorders“  first introduces the reader to rheumatoid arthritis before delving into conventional and alternative therapies for the disease. The editors have also included special topics such as the biomarkers for RA, cytokines and anti-inflammatory mediators, and preclinical and clinical studies. The range of topics should provide a comprehensive overview of natural remedies for arthritis and the role of natural products in anti-arthritic drug development. The information will be useful for many readers including medical and pharmacology students, multidisciplinary research scholars, scientists, pharma/herbal/food industrialists, and policy makers.

Presently he is working as Scientist – D (Pharmacology) in IBSD-Regional Centre, Gangtok, Sikkim, India. His researches also accomplish value addition to those bioactive components for commercial exploitation. He is a life member of 12 different national and international professional/academic societies including The International Society for Ethnopharmacology (ISE), UK, The Biotech Research Society, India [BRSI], Indian Pharmacological Society, Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India etc. He has been published 59 research articles and 20 review articles in National and International Journals including high impact factor’s Journals. He also published 53 abstracts in national and international conferences/ seminar proceedings, delivered 21 invited lectures, 2 book chapters and 2 books. He has 1 Indian patent in his credit.

Dr. Kamal Dua is a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Pharmacy at the Graduate School of Health, University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. He has research experience of over 12 years in the field of drug delivery systems targeting inflammatory diseases. Dr. Dua is also a Node Leader of Drug Delivery Research in the Centre for Inflammation at Centenary Institute/UTS, where the targets identified from the research projects are pursued to develop novel formulations as the first step towards translation into clinics. Dr. Dua researches in two complementary areas; drug delivery and immunology, specifically addressing how these disciplines can advance one another, helping the community to live longer and healthier. This is evidenced by his extensive publication record in reputed journals. Dr. Dua’s research interests focus on harnessing the pharmaceutical potential of modulating critical regulators such as Interleukins and microRNAs and developing new and effective drug delivery formulations for the management of chronic airway diseases. He has published more than 80 research articles in peer-reviewed international journals and authored or co-authored four books. He is an active member of many national and international professional societies.
