Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B (APSB) was founded with the goal of creating a global high-level forum centred around drug discovery and pharmaceutical research/application. APSB was included by Chemical Abstracts in 2011, accepted by PubMed Central in 2015, indexed by Science Citation Index in 2017 and has evolved to become one of the most important international journals in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

APSB is a monthly journal, in English, which publishes significant original research articles, rapid communications and high-quality reviews of recent advances in all areas of pharmaceutical sciences — including pharmacology, pharmaceutics, medicinal chemistry, natural products, pharmacognosy, pharmaceutical analysis and pharmacokinetics.

Carboxylesterase 1 family knockout alters drug disposition and lipid metabolism by Changpei Gan, Jing Wang, Alejandra Martínez-Chávez et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2022.10.017). Carboxylesterase 1 enzymes impact in vivo pharmacokinetics of anticancer prodrugs irinotecan and capecitabine. Lipid homeostasis in adipose tissues is also regulated by CES1, partly through triglyceride mobilization in liver.

 

SIRT1 activation synergizes with FXR agonism in hepatoprotection via governing nucleocytoplasmic shuttling and degradation of FXR by Shuang Cui, Huijian Hu, An Chen et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2022.08.019). Acetylation drives and orchestrates nucleocytoplasmic shuttling and cytosolic degradation of FXR, which accounts for limited hepatoprotective benefits of FXR agonists. SIRT1 activation synergizes with FXR agonists in hepatoprotection.

 

A novel and low-toxic peptide DR3penA alleviates pulmonary fibrosis by regulating the MAPK/miR-23b-5p/AQP5 signaling axis by Dan Wang, Bochuan Deng, Lu Cheng et al. (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.apsb.2022.09.001). Novel peptide DR3penA with high stability and low toxicity effectively attenuates pulmonary fibrosis by regulating the MAPK/miR-23b-5p/AQP5 signaling axis.
