ESMO congresses in March: Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress and European Lung Cancer Congress

Lugano, Switzerland, 9 March 2023 – The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the leading professional organisation for medical oncology, is pleased to announce a combination of brand-new and well-established events happening in March, tackling two specific areas of oncology, with leading experts discussing novel clinical data and the latest treatment options. 

ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2023  

The ESMO Sarcoma and Rare Cancers Congress 2023 is dedicated to presenting and discussing the developments in the treatment and care of rare adult solid cancers.  

The event will take place in Lugano, Switzerland on 20-22 March 2023.  

Programme highlights  

  • How to balance the increasing number of subtypes with limited knowledge on natural history, access to innovation and new methods for clinical investigation to progress research and improve patient outcomes in ultra rare sarcomas 
    Session: Ultra rare sarcomas 

 

European Lung Cancer Congress 2023 

The European Lung Cancer Congress (ELCC) 2023, is the annual event dedicated to advancing the science, disseminating education and improving the practice of lung cancer experts worldwide.  

The event will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark from 29 March – 1 April 2023 and online through a dedicated virtual platform. 

Programme highlights  

  • Applying liquid biopsy as part of an integrated genomic service to maximise outcomes from molecular diagnosis 
    Session: Updates on molecular diagnosis 

 

Keynote lectures  

  • “Heine H. Hansen 2023 Award Keynote Lecture (Title to be announced)” by Paul Baas, Heine H. Hansen 2023 Award recipient, 29 March 2023, 13:45-14:15 CEST  

  • “Equity and sustainability in lung cancer care in resource-restricted contexts” by Clarissa Mathias, 30 March 2023, 09:30-10:00 CEST  

  • “Air pollution and lung cancer” by Charles Swanton, 31 March 2023, 14:30-15.00 CEST  

 

Media registration 

ESMO welcomes media interested in obtaining information and reporting on cancer issues. Only through the official accreditation process, accredited media representatives will be able to access: scientific and educational sessions, poster area, exhibition and industry satellite symposia, congress webcasts, embargoed material. For ELCC the accreditation will also grant permission to the congress virtual platform and its features.
