Incoming EULAR Executive Director, Dr. Natascha Moriconi

Dr Natascha Moriconi, formerly the Cluster Medical Director at Janssen Pharmaceutical companies, overseeing medical affairs, medical education, governance, medical information, as well as regulatory affairs, has been appointed as the EULAR Executive Director effective as of July 2023. She joined the organisation end of February and will closely collaborate with Dr Rautenstrauch to ensure a seamless transition of responsibilities. As Executive Director of EULAR, Dr Natascha Moriconi will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s strategy, operations, and partnerships. This includes leading the implementation of the new EULAR Strategy and collaborating with all EULAR Committees and Communities to strengthen EULAR’s vision, mission, and values. 

Trained as a medical doctor, Dr Moriconi received her Doctorate degree from the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetology, and Clinical Nutrition, of the University Hospital Basel and will be obtaining an Executive MBA in March 2023 from the International Institute of Management and Development (IMD) in Lausanne. With over 15 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Dr Moriconi brings a wealth of expertise and leadership skills to EULAR. In her previous role, Dr Moriconi served as Cluster Medical Director at Janssen Pharmaceutical companies in Switzerland and Austria, where she successfully re-defined and implemented the organisational structure in Medical Affairs with a strong focus on capability building and lean process management. Before that, she served in various commercial positions at GlaxoSmithKline in the United Kingdom and Switzerland. Her successful cross-functional expertise and leadership in medical, marketing, and business roles solidifies her capabilities of directing and guiding a diverse team to its’ mission.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr Julia Rautenstrauch, current EULAR Executive Director and member of the Board, stated: “Natascha has successfully built relationships across the spectrum in pharmaceutical industries, universities, and hospitals, I have no doubt she will do the same with all EULAR activities and communities, scientific partners, and corporate sponsors.
