EULAR welcomes Prof Daniel Aletaha, Vienna, Austria, as the new President of the organisation, succeeding Prof Annamaria Iagnocco, Turin, Italy. Prof Aletaha will lead EULAR in its mission to improve the lives of people with rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs), build on EULAR's successes, and drive EULAR forward. He is committed to continuing the work of his predecessor and taking the organisation to even greater heights.

Daniel Aletaha is the Professor and Head of the Division of Rheumatology at the Medical University Vienna.

Prof Aletaha focuses his research on arthritis and other inflammatory rheumatic diseases, precision medicine, and management of complex diseases. He brings expertise in novel therapies and treatment strategies, diagnosis, prognosis, outcomes, and biomarkers, and is globally admired for his work by all EULAR stakeholders.

Prof Aletaha has an outstanding record of scientific publications, with over 350 indexed publications on PubMed and an impressive h-index of 76 (Clarivate/Web of Science) and 95 (Google Scholar). He has also presented numerous scientific abstracts at various national and international meetings and has been invited speaker at more than 200 international, regional, or national meetings.

"I am deeply honoured to be entrusted with this incredible opportunity to lead EULAR into a new era. Together, we will strive to empower individuals, strengthen collaborations, and drive impactful change that transcends borders and brings the rheumatology community even closer together. By unifying all stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, industry partners, scientific societies, patients, and communities, we can achieve our vision - a world in which all rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases are recognised, diagnosed, and ultimately prevented or cured," - comments Prof Aletaha.

Prof Annamaria Iagnocco will continue to serve EULAR as the Past-President and remain as a member of the EULAR Board. She has been a passionate advocate and has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people with RMDs. Her dedication and commitment to the cause have been an inspiration to many, and her legacy will always be remembered by the whole EULAR Family and the people she has touched.

In addition to the change in presidency, EULAR would also like to announce that Prof Iain McInnes will be stepping down as a Past-President and member of the EULAR Board. Prof McInnes has been at the helm of EULAR for many years and has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the organisation. Under his leadership, EULAR has achieved several milestones, including establishing the EULAR Research Centre, which has become a leading research hub facilitating rheumatology research across Europe.
