Nature Portfolio Chief Trainer delivers a lecture on academic writing at PKUHSC

To promote the Global Excellent Talent Development Program and help teachers and students cultivate a global perspective on scientific research and improve comprehensive scientific research capabilities, the Office of International Cooperation at Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC) invited Dr. Jeffrey Robens, the chief trainer and senior editorial development manager at Nature Portfolio, a publishing group, to give a special lecture entitled "Effective Academic Writing" at the 209 Lecture Hall, Yifu Building of PKU’s medical campus.
Jeffrey Robens, speaking in a humorous and witty manner with vivid examples and enthusiastic interactions, shared with teachers and students present at the lecture the structure and characteristics of effective titles, ways to attract readers' attention, strategies for selecting keywords, approaches for verifying the effectiveness of keywords, methods to increase visibility in academic search engines, and the types and functions of abstracts.
At the end of his lecture, he introduced practical strategies on how to enhance the influence of the article, which was well received by the audience.
Dr. Robens received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of Pennsylvania and then worked at research institutes in Singapore and Japan. Since leaving academia in 2012, he has conducted over 200 academic training workshops across Asia and the Middle East to help researchers improve their publication quality and impact.
