University of the West of Scotland Hosts collaborative two day Session on Advances in Optical Coating Technology

The University of the West of Scotland (UWS) Institute of Thin Films, Sensors & Imaging recently played host to a transformative two-day session on advancements in Optical Coating Technology. Gathering experts from various industries, this event, which was a collaboration with Vacuum Innovations Inc, offered a unique opportunity for attendees to delve into the cutting-edge breakthroughs within the new generation of optical coatings. Beyond the enriching learning experiences, the event, also provided attendees with invaluable networking opportunities, world-class facility tours, research student posters/ presentations and even a delightful whisky tasting session.
Networking and Learning from Industry Experts
At the heart of the event was the gathering of distinguished experts from the optical coating industry. Participants had the chance to interact and network with some of the field's leading professionals, fostering potential collaborations and partnerships. The sessions were structured to provide in-depth insights into Laser Coatings, Deposition Uniformity, Thin-film Stresses, and Deposition Processes, among other current topics in the industry.
The event also offered a networking dinner where attendees could engage in more in-depth conversations with industry leaders. This gathering allowed for discussions beyond the sessions and gave attendees an opportunity to gain valuable insights from the experts' experiences.
Exploring World-Class Coating Facilities
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to tour world-class facilities. Attendees were given a firsthand glimpse into the advanced technologies and methodologies employed in the production of optical coatings.
In addition to this, participants were invited to explore the UWS campus itself. The university showcased its state-of-the-art research laboratories, enabling attendees to witness the institution's contribution to advancements in optical coating technology.

Apart from the enriching learning experiences, attendees were treated to a whisky tasting session, adding a touch of Scottish culture and hospitality to the event.
