Top panel: Measured time-resolved Schottky spectrum of electron-cooled 56Fe26+ beam with energy of 13.6 MeV/u. The velocity of the ions was shifted in steps such that the revolution frequency change covers the entire measurement-frequency range of 3 MHz. (IMAGE)

Middle and bottom panels: Single frame from the top panel at time = 0.86 s, five clear peaks correspond to 5 different harmonics of ion’s revolution frequency. The blueline indicates the original power density of the spectrum. The orange line is the estimated baseline. Using method invited by the authors the baseline of the spectrum was nicely subtracted in the Bottom panel.
