Cell survival of satellite cells from hamsters and mice before and after exposure to 4°C (IMAGE)
Caption
A comparison of cell survival between cultured skeletal muscle stem cells or satellite cells (SCs) from hamsters (left) and mice (right) at 0 hours (top) and 48 hours (bottom) after exposure to 4°C. The number of hamster SCs is almost unaffected by cold exposure (blue spots indicate cell nuclei), with a few dead cells (pink spots); the number of mouse SCs is greatly reduced, and many of the remaining cells are dead.
