Wood ants (Formica lugubris) climbing a silver birch (Betula pendula) to reach the aphids in the foliage to forage for their honeydew. Aphids feed on sap and secrete a high-sugar-concentration liquid called honeydew that ants love to feed on. Peak District National Park, UK.
