Spatial control of cGAS-STING activation and signal termination

The cGAS-STING pathway is organized across cellular compartments. DNA sensing and cGAMP production activate STING, which traffics from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi to engage TBK1-IRF3 and NF-κB signaling. Retrograde trafficking, autophagy and lysosomal degradation help terminate the response.
