Percentage of total area of pastures at four different administrative levels (scales, NUTS 0 - NUTS 3). The maps become more and more differentiated with increasing spatial resolution. In some regions we can find big differences in short distances while others areas look more homogeneous at the same scale. The term NUTS stands for "Nomenclature of territorial units for statistics" where NUTS 0 indicates countries, NUTS 1 major socio-economic regions, NUTS 2 basic regions and NUTS 3 small regions (see http://epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/portal/page/portal/nuts_nomenclature/introduction).
