Potential larval transport from selected vent fields in the western Pacific Ocean as determined by cutting-edge ocean models. The numbers can be regarded as the expected number of times larvae would be transported in 3.8 million years, close to a typical lifetime of a spreading center in the back-arc basins of the Western Pacific (5-10 million years). Arrows show the direction of connections.
