This visible image of Isaias was taken by NASA's Terra satellite on Aug. 3 at 1:30 p.m. EDT, 9 hours and 40 minutes before Isaias' landfall. The eye of Hurricane Isaias made landfall in southern North Carolina around 11:10 p.m. EDT (0310 UTC) on Monday, Aug. 3 near Ocean Isle Beach, with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph (140 kph).
