Chemicals banned in the 1970s are still showing up in the eggs and young of black-crowned night-herons nesting in the wetlands of southeast Chicago, said Jeff Levengood, a professor of veterinary biosciences and a wildlife toxicologist at the Illinois Natural History Survey.
