Chinstrap penguin populations are in decline in the Antarctic Peninsula. While in the past, Chinstrap penguins' strategy of foraging on large, predictable patches of Antarctic krill offshore made sense, now as krill have declined, this specialist strategy may not be best suited for today's rapidly warming environment.
