Evolution of the velocity distribution of a trapped gas of strongly interacting bosons expanding in one dimension. The initially peaked 'bosonic' distribution (purple line) gradually changes into the rounded 'fermionic' distribution (dark red line). The final shape is just like the Fermi sea that would characterize fermions in the same initial trap.
