Ben Abbott, graduate student, records gas flux measurements from a landscape where permafrost has thawed and the ground has collapsed - called a thermokarst - just north of the Institute of Arctic Biology Toolik Field Station on the North Slope. Abbott is part of the Institute of Arctic Biology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
