Predicting Cancer Recurrence with the Circulating Tumor DNA Test (IMAGE)
Caption
A new blood test is being trialed as a predictor of a patient's risk of cancer recurrence. The test detects fragments of tumor DNA in a cancer patient's blood after surgery. The trial is testing whether the level of tumor DNA indicates the patient's risk of relapse, and can be used to guide treatment decisions. The test was developed through a collaboration between the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, Australia, and Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Centre, US.
