Ancient Jurassic Soil Reveals Unexpected Abrupt Transition from Dry to Wet (IMAGE)

Paleontologist Timothy S. Myers, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, analyzed more than 40 ancient soil samples from three different locales in the 600,000-square-mile Morrison Formation, a massive rock unit that for more than 100 years has produced many significant dinosaur discoveries.
The analysis revealed an unexpected and mysterious abrupt transition from dry to wet even though the ancient soil samples came from two nearby locales, Myers says.
