現代化学が有する精密な制御技術に注目した科学者らが、2個の原子（ナトリウムとセシウム）を別個の「光ピンセット」で捕捉した後に、それらを移動させて一か所に集めた結果、特異な性質をもつナトリウムセシウム（NaCs）分子が1個生じた。
