マクロファージが真菌を貪食すると活性酸素種の過剰産生（酸化バースト）が起こり、MTK1が活性化される。活性化されたMTK1はSAPK経路の長期活性化を導いてIL-6の産生を誘導する。MTK1の発現を抑制すると（左）、IL-6の産生が著しく阻害された（右）。
