This figure presents the innovative symmetrical dual-chamber design of INPC-TPC and the internal layout of the main chamber. Chamber 1 (for fission fragments and alpha particles) and Chamber 2 (for recoil protons) are spatially isolated, reducing the dynamic range requirement of a single chamber from 4000-fold to a manageable level. The measured target (e.g., 235U) is placed on the cathode plate of Chamber 1, while the reference target (polyethylene) is mounted in the corresponding position of Chamber 2. Neutrons induce fission in Chamber 1 and elastic scattering with hydrogen in Chamber 2, enabling cross-section ratio calculation based on recoil proton counts.
