3D printing breakthrough: Stronger, more ductile alloy for extreme environments
Songshan Lake Materials LaboratoryPeer-Reviewed Publication
A team of researchers from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Tianmushan Laboratory, and the National University of Singapore has pioneered a new method for crafting an ultra-strong, ductile alloy using 3D printing technology. This alloy—an oxygen-doped blend of niobium, titanium, and zirconium (called “NTZO”)—was fabricated using laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF), a technique that applies rapid heating and cooling to produce metals layer by layer. Through this process, they’ve achieved a unique combination of strength and flexibility, making it an ideal material for the toughest environments, from aerospace to medical applications.

Learnable digital signal processing: a new benchmark of linearity compensation for optical fiber communications
Light Publishing Center, Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics And Physics, CASPeer-Reviewed Publication
The surge in interest regarding the next generation of optical fiber transmission has stimulated the development of digital signal processing (DSP) schemes that are highly cost-effective with both high performance and low complexity. Researchers in China have proposed a novel learnable digital signal processing (LDSP) framework for optical fiber communication, demonstrating significant improvements in performance and complexity reduction. LDSP integrates deep learning optimization into traditional DSP modules from global perspective. Breaking the academic consensus that DSP has fully compensated for linear effects in fiber optic communication systems, it is expected to become a new benchmark for linear compensation in high-speed fiber optical communication systems, laying the foundation for the performance evaluation of nonlinear compensation algorithms.

Prognostic role of Lipoprotein(a) in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk from a perspective on current risk-stratification
Sichuan International Medical Exchange and Promotion AssociationPeer-Reviewed Publication
In a paper published in MedComm, a Chinese team of researchers present the prognostic role of Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] in atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) from a perspective on current risk-stratification. Their data suggested that patients at higher grade of risk-stratification showed higher Lp(a) level, those with both high grades of Lp(a) and risk-stratification were at significantly high risk for recurrent cardiovascular events (CVEs). Additionally, the additional value of Lp(a) elevation for CVEs risk prediction was evident in patients at very-high-risk (VHR) but not those at non-VHR.

Efficacy of acupuncture in refractory irritable bowel syndrome patients: a randomized controlled trial
Higher Education PressA recent randomized controlled trial has shed light on the efficacy of acupuncture as a treatment for refractory irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), a chronic gastrointestinal disorder that significantly impacts quality of life and often resists conventional treatment. The multicenter study conducted across China investigated the effects of true acupuncture (TA) versus sham acupuncture (SA) on patients who had not responded to standard therapies. The results indicated that TA could offer significant relief from IBS symptoms, providing a potentially effective alternative treatment option for those suffering from this condition.
