As chatbots powered by artificial intelligence become more ingrained in our everyday lives, people are increasingly using them to help diagnose their medical concerns.
Scientists across the U.S., including a team from the University of Missouri, are retracing Lewis and Clark’s historic route to study how wildlife has changed over the past 200 years. Using trail cameras, artificial intelligence and a large research network, they are comparing modern mammal populations to the species documented during the original expedition. Led by Christine C. Brodsky, Mizzou’s team is collecting data in Baskett Forest, where trail cameras capture images of animals for AI-assisted identification.
