In a study published in Nature Neuroscience, researchers at WashU Medicine found in mice that amyloid accumulations in the brain — which are characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease — threw off the daily rhythms of hundreds of genes in brain cells in ways that were different from what aging alone caused.

Cardiovascular disease is linked to an increased likelihood of Alzheimer’s disease, especially among women. A new study investigated whether earlier age at menopause influences the association between cardiac function and brain health. Earlier age at menopause is associated with a greater risk for late-life cognitive decline and Alzheimer’s disease.
