In the first real-world study of lecanemab conducted in China, researchers found that lecanemab shows favorable safety and early effectiveness in Chinese patients with mild cognitive impairment and mild Alzheimer’s disease. Key findings include a lower incidence of adverse reactions, notably amyloid-related imaging abnormalities, cognitive stability after 6 months, increased plasma Aβ42 and Aβ40, and reduced amyloid plaques in the brain, though high dropout rates and absence of a control group warrant cautious interpretation.
CSHL Professor Nicholas Tonks and his team have identified PTP1B as a key contributor to memory loss in mice. Their study reveals a previously unknown role of PTP1B in immune cell signaling and positions this long-studied enzyme as a potential therapeutic target for Alzheimer’s disease.
