Rice University researchers have revealed novel sequence-structure-property relationships for customizing engineered living materials (ELMs), enabling more precise control over their structure and how they respond to deformation forces like stretching or compression.

The Terasaki Institute for Biomedical Engineering (TIBI) is pleased to announce their selection of Dr. Cato Laurencin, Chief Executive Officer, Connecticut Convergence Institute, Professor, University of Connecticut as the recipient of the 2025 Paul Terasaki  Innovation Award and Dr Jun Chen, Associate Professor, Department of Bioengineering, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), as the recipient of the 2025 Hisako Terasaki Young Innovator Award.  These awards will be presented at the 3rd Annual Terasaki Innovation Summit, to be held March 5-7, 2025, at the Terasaki Institute Research Headquarters in Woodland Hills, California.

In a milestone that brings quantum computing tangibly closer to large-scale practical use, scientists at Oxford University Physics have demonstrated the first instance of distributed quantum computing. Using a photonic network interface, they successfully linked two separate quantum processors to form a single, fully connected quantum computer, paving the way to tackling computational challenges previously out of reach. The results have been published today (5 Feb) in Nature.
