A novel strategy for PDGFRβ detection and TKI therapy monitoring
ResearchA team led by Zuo Tingting from Yili Normal University, in collaboration with Professors Zhang Chao and Cao Xiaolong from Southern Medical University, has developed a novel fluorescence-switchable nanoprobe based on black phosphorus nanosheets. This probe enables real-time, dynamic, and visualized detection of the key target PDGFRβ, and accurately tracks changes in receptor expression during tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment, providing a new strategy for evaluating the efficacy of tumor-targeted therapy and predicting drug resistance.
The related findings have been published in the internationally renowned journal Research (2026, Volume 9) under the title "Nano-Enabled Fluorescence Switching: A Novel Strategy for PDGFRβ Detection and TKI Therapy Monitoring".

New physics-informed AI model masters complex aerodynamics at high angles of attack
SciOpenA new study published in the Chinese Journal of Aeronautics (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.cja.2025.103943) tries to break this deadlock. Researchers from Northwestern Polytechnical University and Tsinghua University have developed a novel modeling framework called differential equation model long-short term memory neural network (DEM-LSTM). This hybrid approach integrates the theoretical rigor of differential equations with the nonlinear mapping capabilities of LSTM neural network, offering a solution that is both accurate and physically interpretable.

A new form of pseudo-labels for semi-supervised object detection on medical images
Higher Education PressThe high annotation costs in medical detection tasks make semi-supervised object detection (SSOD) methods particularly promising. However, current research has paid little attention to medical image SSOD, and conventional SSOD approaches struggle with the unique challenges of medical imaging—scarce annotations and difficult-to-learn features.

Hierarchical long and short-term user preference modeling for sequential recommendation
Higher Education PressSequential recommendation is an important research task in the field of recommendation systems. The goal of the sequential recommendation task can be defined as follows: given a user’s interaction sequence and the associated timestamp sequence, predict the next item that the user is likely to interact with at the next time step. The existing methods have limitations in capturing the diversity of long-term interests, the dynamics of short-term user interest, and the hierarchical relationship between them.

KRISS develops a plug-and-play single-photon source that works at room temperature
National Research Council of Science & TechnologyThe Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS, President Dr. Lee Ho Seong) has developed a room-temperature single-photon source built into a compact 19-inch rack-mounted device that operates without cryogenic cooling. Designed as a plug-and-play system that works as soon as it is powered on, the device moves quantum light source technology beyond the laboratory and closer to practical, on-site use.

Why Facebook, video calls and artificial intelligence matter for age-friendly communities
Rutgers UniversityContrary to common stereotypes, seniors’ digital savvy is surging. New research from Rutgers University-New Brunswick suggests one reason why: digital tools are essential for development and maintenance of age-friendly initiatives – programs and policies designed to support and include older adults.
“Our paper calls attention to the fact that technology is critical to making aging-related changes to our societies,” said Natalie E. Pope, a doctoral candidate at the Rutgers School of Social Work and coauthor of the study published in the journal Innovation in Aging. “That includes both how older adults interact with technology, and how we, as people who care about aging, use technology in our work.”
