Min-Young Kim of the University of Kansas conducted a study in which she observed how an 8th grade English language arts class studied a poem. By using practices like "languaging," thinking aloud and holding students accountable for how they thought about material, the researcher found the class and teacher worked together to form their own social constructions of thinking. The findings show students are not always simply recipients of information from teachers, but engage more depply when they contribute on how a class thinks about subject matter.

A new study peels back the curtain on what motivates people to switch Medicare Advantage plans or leave MA altogether. The inability to access the care they needed, and dissatisfaction with the quality of the care they received, had much more to do with switching to another MA plan than the costs they had to pay, the study finds. More than half of Medicare participants are in MA plans.

A team of Cornell researchers is exploring how these technologies can be used not to surveil workers, but to help them build solidarity and improve their working conditions.

Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Computer Science (SCS) developed the web-based tool PolicyCraft to help community members use concrete cases to collaboratively craft policy. The research team found that policies created with PolicyCraft received stronger support and greater consensus.
