Dumbbell-shaped thrombectomy device: a novel approach to cerebral venous sinus thrombosis treatment

Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST) is a relatively rare but extremely challenging disease. Due to the anatomical and physiological differences between the cerebral venous system and the arterial system, the existing arterial stent retriver is not suitable for venous vessels. A research team from Xuanwu Hospital of Capital Medical University has developed a dedicated thrombectomy stent (Venus-TD) using NiTi alloy wire stereoscopic weaving technology. This stent features a rotatable thrombectomy net, an adjustable length-to-diameter ratio, and a bidirectional suction and fragmentation function, enabling rapid and efficient recanalization of the venous sinus, bringing new hope for the treatment of CVST.
