Home-based strength training at different intensities: A new exploration for Duchenne muscular dystrophy rehabilitation
HEP Data Cooperation JournalsResearchers in China have designed an exploratory randomized controlled trial protocol to evaluate the safety, feasibility, and preliminary effects of a 12-month home-based strength training program delivered at three different intensities in boys with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). The findings are expected to provide critical data to guide future larger-scale trials and evidence-based exercise prescriptions.

A lotus leaf remedy to reboot the diabetic brain
HEP Data Cooperation JournalsA new mechanism based on Nuciferine, a bioactive alkaloid from lotus leaf, to ameliorate Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus-induced Cognitive Impairment (T2DM-CI) by directly targeting the Insulin Receptor (IR) and activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway to reduce Tau hyperphosphorylation and oxidative stress is provided, and a new strategy for metabolic-targeted neuroprotection in diabetes is opened.

A useful formula’s dual strike on psoriasis
HEP Data Cooperation JournalsA novel mechanism based on Yinxie Granules and its core active ingredients (quercetin and kaempferol) to ameliorate psoriasis by blocking the STING-NF-κB signaling pathway to simultaneously suppress cutaneous inflammation and pathological angiogenesis is provided, and a new strategy for dual-targeting therapy of psoriasis is opened.

Chonnam National University study identifies caspase-11 as a key driver of osteoclast genesis
Chonnam National University, The Research Information Management Team, Office of Research PromotionOsteoporosis and other bone-loss disorders arise when bone-resorbing osteoclasts become overactive, yet the molecular drivers of this process remain incompletely understood. Researchers from Chonnam National University investigated caspase-11, an immune-related protein known for its role in inflammation and cell death. Using multiple models of bone loss and a combination of genetic and molecular approaches, the team explored whether caspase-11 has an unexpected function in bone remodeling, revealing insights into the mechanisms underlying pathological bone destruction.

A yolk sac-derived hepatic γδ T cell subpopulation develops in a hematopoietic stem cell- and thymus-independent manner
Higher Education PressConcurrently with and prior to the emergence of hematopoietic stem cells within the intraembryonic aorta, various types of hematopoietic progenitors are believed to arise in the extraembryonic yolk sac through a process of endothelial-to-hematopoietic transition.

The structure of metabotropic glutamate receptor 7 discloses the modulation mechanism of the synaptic adhesion protein ELFN1
Higher Education PressExtracellular leucine-rich repeat and fibronectin type-III domain-containing protein 1 (ELFN1) is a synaptic adhesion protein, which regulates the precise positioning and physiological functions of metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGlus). Deficiency of the mGlu-ELFN1 interaction leads to severe pathological outcomes such as epilepsy and night blindness. However, the underlying mechanisms are largely unknown.

BAM15 improves oocyte quality against obesity via PPARγ-dependent mitochondrial function
Higher Education Press
Obesity is increasingly recognized as a major factor contributing to female reproductive dysfunction and declining fertility. Excessive lipid accumulation and oxidative stress under obese conditions can disrupt mitochondrial homeostasis in oocytes, leading to impaired meiotic maturation, abnormal cytoskeletal organization, DNA damage, and reduced embryonic developmental competence. However, effective interventions targeting obesity-associated oocyte deterioration remain limited.

Structural and mechanistic insights into the UBR4-KCMF1-Calmodulin complex: a new frontier in cancer and neurodegeneration
Higher Education PressA recent study published in Protein & Cell by researchers from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) provides critical structural and functional insights into the UBR4-KCMF1-Calmodulin (UKC) complex, revealing its pivotal role in protein quality control, cancer cell survival, and stress adaptation. The work, led by Professors Renhong Yan and Baotong Zhang, elucidates how this complex assembles and functions as an E4 ubiquitin ligase, extending ubiquitin chains on pre-tagged substrates to regulate protein degradation.
