A new study by researchers from the Future of Work Lab and the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality" at the University of Konstanz shows: The use of artificial intelligence at work is increasing in Germany, albeit at a much slower pace than the intensity of the public debate might suggest. At the same time, the use continues to reflect social inequalities: Employees with higher educational qualifications are almost three times more likely to use AI than those with lower levels of education. GBD 2021 data were used to assess trends, SDI-related distributions and DALY drivers from 1990 to 2021. Cardiovascular diseases had the highest mortality and DALY rates in 2021. Communicable, maternal, neonatal and nutritional (CMNN) burdens remained concentrated towards lower-SDI settings but gradients weakened, whereas NCD burdens remained concentrated towards higher-SDI settings and gradients strengthened. Population growth and ageing mainly drove the 577 million rise in NCD-related DALYs.
