Boston University is joining the NSF AI Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Fundamental Interactions (IAIFI), which aims to use AI to inform physics breakthroughs—and vice versa.
IMDEA Networks has been granted funding for four projects under the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU), reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s leading research centers in 6G innovation. This year we have a 50% success rate in the proposals, and we participate in 20% of the projects selected in the call.
Using artificial intelligence and digital initiatives to amplify voices

EULAR – The European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology – works with the network of national organisations of People with Arthritis/Rheumatism in Europe (PARE) to ensure the voices of people with RMD are heard and have influence – creating powerful alliances that make a real difference. Artificial intelligence (AI) is another potential ally in that fight. At the EULAR 2026 Congress in London, work was presented from three PARE initiatives that showcase how digital tools can be used in treatment education and decision-making, and potentially avoid the use of general web searches to answer important questions.
CardioNVT is an end-to-end deep learning platform for rapid, immunostaining-free assessment of cardiomyocyte nuclear ploidy in situ. Using only DAPI-stained heart sections, it segments cardiomyocyte nuclei, tracks them across z-stack planes, reconstructs 3D nuclear volumes, and infers ploidy from volume measurements, enabling scalable studies of cardiac development, remodeling, and repair.
