The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) has named two NJIT faculty members — Cesar Bandera, master teacher and Leir Endowed Chair for Entrepreneurship, and Sara Zapico, assistant professor of forensic science — to the 2026 class of Senior Members. Bandera’s work sits at the intersection of technology innovation, entrepreneurship education and mobile health. Zapico directs NJIT’s Interdisciplinary Forensics and Biomedical Sciences Lab (ForenBioS), where she applies biochemical, epigenetic and molecular approaches to advance forensic science.

"The solar revolution is happening fast in Africa," said Pamela Jagger, a professor at the U-M School for Environment and Sustainability. "But it could be delivering more meaningful energy services to a larger number of people, and it needs to be."

The BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Awards in Economics, Finance and Management has gone in this eighteenth edition to Charles F. Manski for his pioneering contributions to the measurement of uncertainty in economic research and its application to public policy analysis. The professor at Northwestern University (Chicago, United States) is described by the committee as a “foundational figure” in the development of modern methods that have transformed how economists infer conclusions from data, report degrees of uncertainty in their models, and evaluate public policies in the face of incomplete evidence.
